Um, OK...I learned that it coming home to NY can be culture shock after several days with really cool & laid back peeps. And that "southern hospitality" is indeed that. Every year, the locals are all so gracious it almost freaks me out.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I have heard that people from elsewhere aren't quite sure the Southern hospitality (capitalized, please) is genuine. That it is some sort of "front" we put on in front of unsuspecting visitors until they have spent enough time down here to understand that is really the way things are...and like you said, don't exactly know how to handle things when they get back to where they are from.

I'm sincerely glad you have experienced Southern hospitality first hand....and know it is all good until someone smiles at you and says, "Well Bless Your Heart"....then you should know there is a VERY good chance you have been completed dismissed and insulted....

Is that like a NYer saying, "Oh...how fun."? But yes, I am extra cranky with my home turf right now. It's like douche central.

Yeah in the south when you hear "Bless yer Heart" it's time to run away! I'd like to throw in though that anytime I'm up North folks really treat me very nice, I actually get treated better in places like NYC, Albany and Baltimore than I do in the south. I think though, that people are people where ever ya go. (only there a few place I've been, North and South where douchebaggery seems to be in the drinking water)

Then again, maybe we're just always enamored with places that we don't actually live, Hell I don't know, I'm half asleep still! But also very glad we finally got off the subject of the pocket thing!

Give me enough time, and I can justify anything.

Don't ever miss HRW or you'll spend your whole holiday weekend depressed and lonely.

i learned that if you're trying to sell a car at HRW, don't waste your time talking to some 'tard with no money 3 hours before it's all over, and missing the Gallows second show.

i heard the hobbit-man with the spoons set himself on fire? [[sigh]...

Route 81 South is a great way to get down to HRW to avoid Phil and DC traffic.   Also, being a passenger on the drive is exhausting...
